BROOKLYN BECKHAM MISSING AS SIR DAVID GETS KNIGHTED

David Beckham’s son Brooklyn was noticeably not present as the footballing legend finally became a Sir, as he received his knighthood from King Charles at Windsor Castle today.

The 50-year-old former England captain from London was awarded the title for his services to sport and charity in the King’s birthday honours list.

He was accompanied by his wife, Lady Victoria, and his parents, Sandra and Ted.

The couple, who are parents to Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14, were later joined by their three youngest children.

Snaps shared by Romeo, the second eldest, revealed that the family dressed to the nines and posed for some snaps in one of the ornate castle reception rooms.

Notably absent was Brooklyn Sir David’s eldest son, who has reportedly been in a feud with his parents for many months.

‘No one deserves this more than you, love you so much xxx

Congrats Sir dad 😂 @davidbeckham,’ captioned the post from Romeo, revealing the family snap.

While at the castle, the sporting legend revealed he had one request for his wife – now called Lady Victoria – when it came to making his look for the day, emulate King Charles’ style.

‘He was quite impressed with my suit,’ David told the PA at the event.

‘He’s kind of the most elegantly dressed man that I know, so he inspired quite a few of my looks over the years, and he definitely inspired this look.

‘It was something that my wife made me.

‘I looked at old pictures of him when he was quite young in morning suits and I was like, “OK, that’s what I want to wear,” so I gave it to my wife and she did it.’

Metro understands that for this special occasion, the couple wore custom Victoria Beckham looks.

David wore a three-piece custom morning suit, the first ever tailored menswear piece from Victoria Beckham. The suit is crafted from a distinguished British wool mohair blend in a deep charcoal grey, featuring a sharply tailored lapel. The suit was a perfect reflection of David’s sartorial sensibility whilst being deeply rooted in classic British tailoring.

Victoria wore a custom version of the brand’s iconic Bela dress, featuring an elongated asymmetric hem and made in a beautifully textured, rich navy.

‘This is without doubt my proudest moment,’ said Sir David at the event.

‘I’ve been very obviously lucky in my career to have won what I’ve won and done what I’ve done but to receive an honour like this, of a knight, is beyond anything that I ever thought that I would receive.

‘To be honest, a young boy from the east end of London, born in Leytonstone, and here at Windsor Castle, being honoured by His Majesty the King – the most important and the most respected institution in the world – it’s quite a moment,’ he said.

The footballer added that he appreciates that his name has made it possible for him to work with charities, which is something he is passionate about.

‘All the things that I do, I do out of love,’ he said.

‘I don’t do it because I’m forced to do it, I don’t do it because I have to do it, I do it because it’s important.’

The footballer shared his pride on social media with a long post about the achievement.

‘I can’t even begin to describe what a special day it is for me today, a boy born in East London, to receive a Knighthood from His Majesty The King. I am truly humbled and so grateful for this honour,’ he began.

He mentioned many moments in his career, and how travelling through work allowed him to learn about the good work charities can do.

Sir David mentioned his children and family collectively as he penned: ‘My beautiful wife who has been by my side for the last 28 years, who has been my biggest supporter and my shoulder to cry on in tough times….without her I wouldn’t have had the life I have had.

‘To my beautiful children who I am so proud of and I know this is a proud and inspiring day for them as well, they are our greatest joy in life and my inspiration every single day. I love you all so much…

He concluded: ‘Finally Mum, Dad, Victoria and to my Kiddies can you believe this…I love you all so much and Thank You ❤️ @theroyalfamily’

The footballer has been behind many iconic moments throughout his career, which led to this major honour. A source close to the Beckham family told Metro that the star is happier than ever at this chapter of his life.

‘David feels good after turning 50 earlier this year. His family and his work are his biggest achievements in life.’

The source added: ‘David’s hard work he’s always put in over the years is paying off and he’s as happy at 50 as he’s ever been.’
