HULL FC TEAR UP CONTRACT OF NEW PLAYER TREIGH STEWART BEFORE HE EVEN ARRIVES

Just five days after announcing his capture, Hull FC have now revealed Treigh Stewart will no longer join the club due to an ‘incident of alleged domestic violence.’

The Super League outfit have had to make the U-turn after details emerged down under. Brisbane Tigers full-back Stewart, 23, had agreed an 18-month contract with Hull only last week pending a successful visa application. Joint-bottom of Super League, they’d hoped the Queensland Cup player - who represented Papua New Guinea’s Presidents XIII last term - would arrive in the UK imminently to help turn around their faltering campaign.

But Hull today released the following statement: “The club have been made aware of an incident of alleged domestic violence involving the player in Australia. Hull FC have therefore officially withdrawn their contract offer to the player, and can confirm he will not be joining the club.

“The club takes a strong zero-tolerance policy on all forms of domestic violence. The club will make no further comment on the matter.”

It is another blow for Hull's new director of rugby Richie Myler as he bids to transform the ailing club's squad. Aussie John Cartwright has been secured as their new head coach for 2025 and Hull have signed Leigh captain John Asiata for next season.

But they are seeking fresh talent for the current campaign and Stewart was seen as someone who could make an instant impact.
