Harry Kane has issued a stern warning to his teammates at Bayern Munich despite nabbing four goals as the German side ran riot in a 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

In a game that set a record for most goals in the competition, Bayern struck three times in the first half with Kane, who scored a hat-trick in their Bundesliga win over Holstein Kiel on Saturday, converting a 19th minute penalty.

After a 57th-minute strike, the England captain bagged his third and fourth goals with penalties in the 73rd and 78th while Leroy Sane added another in the 85th before fellow substitute Leon Goretzka headed in the ninth.

Kane's strikes meant he became the highest scoring English player in the competition's history with 33 goals.

But amidst the Bayern bedlam, Zagreb snuck in a couple of goals in a sloppy two-minute spell just after the restart and the centre-forward told DAZN the side 'could get punished' if they let their standards slip like that again in future.

He said: 'Amazing game. The first half was really good, we took our chances.

'We didn't start the second half well and got caught in a couple of second balls. We'll have to learn from that.

'But the reaction afterwards was really good. It's great to score all these goals.

'Today we got away with that bad start of the second half, but against top opposition, we could get punished for that.'

Kane's opener saw him draw level with Wayne Rooney's English record of 30 goals, before a late flurry drove the star well past the old benchmark.

Goals from Raphael Guerreiro and Michael Olise in the first-half put Bayern in cruise control, at three goals to the good, by half-time.

But strikes courtesy of Bruno Petkovic and Takuya Ogiwara scared the German outfit and put Dinamo back into the contention.

The goals only served to poke the Bayern bear and the former champions went on a six-goal rampage in the final 40 minutes.

Kane and Olise both doubled their tally for the night before the England striker scored two more penalties to make the scoreline seem more comfortable.

Sane and Goretzka then completed the record-breaking goal tally as Bayern made an impressive start to the new-look Champions League campaign.

Next up for Vincent Kompany's men is a trip to Villa Park to face the 1982 winners.
