EVERYONE LOVED WHAT ALEXI LALAS SAID ABOUT U.S. MEN'S NATIONAL TEAM

The USMNT's loss to Uruguay on Monday night ended their run in the 2024 Copa America tournament.

The United States - this year's hosts - are out in the group stage after a frustrating series of events over the last few days.

Thursday's disastrous loss to Panama set the stage for Monday, and the United States couldn't get the result it needed to move on to the knockout stage.

Former USMNT player and current FOX Sports analyst Alexi Lalas weighed in on the team's loss on Monday, and he didn't hold back.

"You talk about learning from losing, okay? I think what we have learned from these cycles is that this team is not able to do anything better than it has done in the past," Lalas said after the loss to Uruguay.

"That hurts to say, because that's not what was promised...if this is as good as it gets, it's not good enough. There's plenty of excuses, but they don't matter."

Lalas has been a controversial figure for most of his time as an analyst, but the fan base seemed to agree with his take on Monday.

"This guy is one of the worst announcers in the sport and typically a total shill for US Soccer but even he can't hide the truth anymore," one fan said.

"I don't agree with Alexi often but he hit the nail on the head post-game. This is the most talented generation, but do they display the same grit and fight as the teams even a decade ago...no. Culture starts at the top," said another fan.

"Alexi lalas right about something for once and I don't even support the usmnt," said one fan.

"I know lots of people don’t like Alexi Lalas including myself but I actually believe he had a point in the post game especially about Gregg Berhalter," one fan added.

"I do have to admit every now and then Alexi will cook," another fan said.

"You know it’s not a great situation the USMNT is in when I’m raising my hand to Lalas like he’s performing Wish You Were Here," said one fan.

The 2024 Copa America tournament will continue, but the hosts will not longer be involved. The round of 16 will be determined on Tuesday, with the final group stage games being played.

Brazil will take on Colombia, while Costa Rica faces Paraguay in Group D action.

The round of 16 begins on July 4 with Argentina's game against Ecuador in Houston.
