URUGUAY MANAGER SUSPENDED BEFORE GAME AGAINST USMNT

Uruguay manager Marcelo Bielsa won't be on the sidelines for Monday's Copa America match against the United States.

On Sunday, CONMEBOL suspended Biesla for one game because the team was late returning to the field for the second half of Thursday's 5-0 win over Bolivia. Assistant coach Pablo Quiroga will take over as acting manager versus the USMNT.

Uruguay received a warning after a 90-second delay against Panama. Biesla's club began Group C play with a 3-1 victory, establishing La Celeste as a strong contender to win the quadrennial tournament.

Following two dominant wins, Uruguay would automatically advance to the quarterfinals with at least a draw on Monday. Given their plus-seven goal differential, they'll likely move on even with a loss.

Meanwhile, the USMNT likely need a victory to qualify for the knockout stage. They're tied with Panama for second place with three points each, but they're two goals ahead in point differential.

The U.S. will play Monday's match without Tim Weah, who received a two-game suspension and $3,000 fine for his suspension and red card against Panama. Weah was ejected in the 18th minute after hitting Panama defender Roderick Miller in the back of the head.

"To put my team in this situation was never my intention. I think I'm getting painted to be like a violent person, which I'm not," Weah told FS1's Jenny Taft. "And I think that kind of hurts a lot. And seeing my brothers kind of have to go a different route to get to our main goal, it really hurts a lot. But the objective stays the same."

Monday's match between the U.S. and Uruguay starts at 9 p.m. ET on FS1.
